"The History of Truro Fire Brigade" by Rodney Smith
- In 1868 Truro Volunteer Brigade was formed and had 2 fire engines and an escape housed in a station in St Marys Street. The brigade moved its premises firstly to the Town Hall, and in 1882 a new fire station was opened in High Cross
